Why this makes me very depressed
It's starting to get really boring so I'm going to blog about this today:
(Skip to 5:21 please... Omg. Talk about eye candies!!)
Oh, and no prizes for guessing which team I support correctly.
For months, I have been avoiding any conversation or discussion relating to the 2014 World Cup (except talking about how good looking and talented the Spanish team is) because it makes me very upset to think about it. The reason why it makes me upset is not because Spain, my favourite team, lost. It is because they lost for really depressing reasons - basically, people taking advantage of their gentleness and them being not scheming enough. It reminds me of X-men: Days of Future Past. You know, Professor Xavier being all kind-hearted and righteous and then getting bullied by insecure and evil homo sapiens/sentinels. It just makes me think that people will resort to anything to win.
Well, anyway, I finally decided to pluck up my courage to watch the Spain vs Netherlands match today - the one which Spain lost so miserably...
I have to admit that I am still very very affected by the result. I think it is quite unfair but I really want to see where Spain went wrong. I'm not a football expert and I really do not know a thing about game plans and stuff. But I think a person with average IQ will be able to see that Spain lost due to a combination of reasons:
- Spain was hesitant. Yes, they were passing the ball - tiki taka - very well. In fact, it was done so well that it is quite beautiful to watch. BUT - and there is always a but - they dropped the ball (literally) when it came to scoring goals. They didn't aim and they doubted themselves when they did.
- Spain was pessimistic. It is obvious that they felt like crap after the second goal...and throughout the World Cup. They just gave up.
Then I looked even closer. Why did they fumble? Why were they hesitant AND pessimistic? I mean, we're talking about the BEST modern football team. - world no.1 for 6 years!! (By the way, they are now 7th, I think...)
The answer is obvious - Netherlands wanted and needed to win.
- Netherlands was giving them pressure. First, they are known to be quite, shall we say, overly friendly? I'm not the only one that thinks so. If you are able to watch the Youtube video embedded above, please skip to 12:50, 22:15, 23:50, 26:10 and 32:40.
Lol, one of the commentators even said, "He [De Jong] seems to like to hit people in the chest... I dont know how many of those De Jong will get away with." Yup, he didn't get a yellow card for slamming Busquets in the chest and making him fall...
Not even a yellow card this epic kick! (see GIF below) What the hell is wrong with this world??!?!! Is there no justice? Omg, I need to stop being over-dramatic but it is how I really feel...
Haha, speaking of which, the commentator also said that Netherlands deserved more yellow cards. He said, "Yellow for that? What do you say about the rest before?"
Second, they were very very hungry for revenge. This is what the Spanish players lack. They were too chill and inflexible. I mean, just look at the Dutch!! They were willing to leave their positions which is quite risky to prevent the Spaniards from getting their way. It was so hard to watch. Like a lamb versus ten lions. Doomed right from the beginning...

So yah, I cringe at the thought of Spain losing because they were nice and look how it worked out for them - they minded their own business and played fair and square.
Maybe I cannot accept it because I don't want to accept the fact that life is harsh (although I know that it is). You either kill or be killed; simple as that. People will lie and backstab and scheme to kick you out (literally, in Spain's case).
Well, in that case, I guess I'll die or at least get trampled on a million times in life. Lol! Then can someone inject some of Wolverine's genes into my DNA or cells or whatever? I need accelerated healing if this is how it goes in life.
Ok, and before I digress, can I please reiterate that I know nothing about football so don't attack me if you disagree with my opinions? The above is just my humble and very superficial analysis of what I thought of the first 2014 World Cup Group B match.
Alright... rant over. The End.
